Summer Fun Discounts for Military Families



Summer is almost here, and that means it's time for vacation! Whether you plan to travel far or stick closer to home this year, there are lots of attractions all across the country that offer discounts to service members and their families.  Here is a list of some of the many discounts your family can take advantage of this summer for some memorable family moments!




National Parks -  U.S. military members and dependents in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard and also, Reserve and National Guard members can pick up a FREE annual pass to visit all national parks! Just show your military ID at the park to obtain your pass! Pack a picnic lunch and you have a very cheap day out! You can find parks near you HERE.


Disney World - Get a 4-Day Park Hopper Pass for only $177 (+ tax if you buy the tickets at the gate).  You can purchase these tickets through September 30, 2015, and use them through October 3, 2015.  Keep in mind there are blackout dates.  Tickets can be purchased at your base MWR/ITR, at the Shades of Green Resort, or at the gate.  You can get more info on this offer HERE.   Disney World also offers special military rates on their resort properties. You can find the current deals HERE.  There are some great benefits to staying on property so it's worth a look!



Disney Land - Get a 3-Day Park Hopper Pass for $132 (+ tax if you buy the tickets at the gate).  You can purchase these tickets through September 30, 2015, and use them through October 3, 2015.  Keep in mind there are blackout dates.  Tickets can be purchased at your base MWR/ITR, or at the gate.  You can get more info on this offer HERE.   Disneyland also offers special military rates on their resort properties. You can find the current deals HERE.  There are some great benefits to staying on property like extra magic hours so it's worth a look, but keep in mind there are several other hotels within walking distance that are much cheaper.





Universal Studios Hollywood - They regular discount at the gate is $3 off.  Check with your local ITR/MWR office for rates and promotions.  (The current rate at my base is $88 for a 3-Day Park-to-Park Pass...That's 3 days for the price of 1)!

Universal Studios Orlando - Check with your local ITR/MWR office for rates.  (The current rate at my base is $147 for a 3-Day park to Park for adults and $142 for kids...They also offer 1-4 days passes).



Waves of Honor - Active Duty Service Members receive free admission for themselves and up to 3 direct dependents each year to SeaWorld, Bush Gardens, Aquatica, Adventure Island, or Sesame Place.  Each park also offers military discounts if additional tickets are needed.  You can get more information on this program HERE.



Schlitterbahn Waterparks - Schlitterbahn Waterparks are celebrating American Heroes Week 5/22-5/29.  Each park is offering free admission for military members (as well as firefighters, police, and EMTs).  Head HERE and select your nearest park for more information. Parks also offer a military discount during operating season.



Great Wolf Lodge - Use code HEROES when you book online to save 20% on your room! Great Wolf is a great place to break up those cross-country drives!


Legoland Florida Resort - Military Members receive a free one-day admission throughout 2015. Family members receive a discount.



Legoland California - Military Members and their families receive a second day free.  These tickets can be purchased online HERE or at your local ITR/MWR office. (I noticed my base pricing on this offer is a few dollars less than the online pricing given).  There is also a park hopper option if you want to explore the Sea Life Aquarium and visit the Legoland Waterpark.


Six Flags - Head HERE and select your favorite park to get all of the info on military ticket pricing.  Tickets and/or season passes may also be available  purchase through your local ITR/MWR office. 



Blue Star Families - Each year museums across the nation offer free admission for military members and their families. This year you can take advantage of this program from Memorial Day, May 25, 2015 through Labor Day, September 7, 2015. You can see all of the participating museums HERE.

Be sure to check with your local ITR/MWR office for more discounts on camping, licenses, theme parks, concerts, theater, sporting events, zoos, and more! You can even rent campers and other equipment from most offices for your best summer ever! Where are you and your family planning to head this summer?
