Chocolate Chip Cookies for the troops!
.......If you are looking to send your hero a gift package and are trying to find ideas to send...look no further. These chocolate chip cookies will give those brave guys and girls a little taste of home, no matter how far away they may be. I have sent a few care packages in my day, to my brother while he was stationed on the U.S.S. George Washington and to my husband, but nothing that I have sent in the past even comes close to this new cookie recipe.
.......This cookie recipe came to be accidentally. I thought I messed up on the original recipe, so I tried to compensate, only to find I didn't mess up to begin with. The good news is, it has less butter than most recipes...so we can eat more!! Just so you know, this recipe makes a LARGE batch of cookies, so you can send some AND save some for you, uh, I mean your kids.
..
Ingredients:
4 1/2 Cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups butter, softened (I use salted)
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 large eggs
4 cups (2 - 12oz. pkg) semisweet morsels
Directions:
..
Preheat Oven to 375 Degrees.
Combine: flour, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in LARGE mixing bowl until combined and creamy. Next, add your eggs one at a time until throughly mixed. Slowly mix in the flour mixture (really slow or you will clog up your beaters/mixer and have flour everywhere). Lastly, mix in the morsels. Drop large rounds, think a little larger than a golf ball, on an ungreased baking sheet (I think baking stones work best) for 11 minutes, or until the FIRST sight of golden brown. This will give you super soft cookies, bake 12-13 minutes if you want milk-dunkable cookies. Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes. ENJOY!
